I love spring, it's my favorite season. The smell of the air, the early spring rain, the flowers in bloom, the birds chirping, the warm sunny days ... ahhhh!
I can't think of a better way to celebrate the coming of spring than to check out the new spring fashions and get ideas for the fun spring portrait sessions! Here is a nice coordinating ensemble for an entire family. This look is relaxed, casual and natural. It all coordinates with colors staying in the same tones and draws common greens and browns throughout. Not everything is matchy matchy but it all looks nice together! These outfits can be found at Old Navy and The Children's Place.
Stay tuned for more spring shopping tips! Enjoy.
They were a dream to photograph and lots of fun! I even came home with a sticker of Donkey from Shrek! I felt so special, lol! Well, my kids thought it was pretty special anyways, and they even fought a little over who would get to wear the sticker. Enjoy.
I have so much Project 366 stuff to post that it isn't funny! Seriously I think it's been about a month. I don't think I will post them all in here, maybe just a select few and the rest will go into the Project 366 album that you can click to on the right. I also had lots of sneak peeks which by now aren't sneak peeks anymore ... most of them have their portraits already.
Yep, I stink at blogging lately. So, I'm going to start another not-so-new-year-New Year's Resolution and that is to update my blog at least 3 days a week. If you catch me not blogging please send me a note and you just may get a little gift in return for helping a girl out. I will be posting sneak peeks, project 366 stuff, maybe some personal notes when my kids do really cute things, and because it is the single most common question I am asked .... what to wear! Yep, I will be posting shopping tips and clothing suggestions!!
Ok, so enough of my promises to be a better blogger ... how about something super cute?! Yep, you guessed it ... my kids! Studio style images on a backdrop are not my normal style but I had a specific look I was going for to make Valentine's Cards of the kids. I love the way these turned out and my daughter's valentine just cracks me up every time I look it. I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I unloaded the card and saw this photo. I'm sure she will despise this photo by the time she's a teenager, but holy cow is she cute or what?!
And here is my handsome little man!
Until next time .... which should be soon! Enjoy.
Please update your bookmarks to point to www.tiffanyhixphotography.com/blog or www.tiffanyhixblog.com The www.tiffanyhixblog.com address is currently pointing to this blog but is being redirected to new blog. It may take a couple of days for this change to be finalized though.
The new blog is ready to make it's debut! We are still working on a couple of things but it's pretty much ready.
I'm going to send a big THANK YOU to Theresa at Design Focus Studio for getting the new blog installed on my server and making that header on the top scroll through a few of my favorite photos and for just doing a great job with all the customizations! She's rad and if you need your blog pimped send her an email! Thank you again Theresa!!!
Sorry for the delay in blogging. I am currently having a new blog designed and thus haven't been posting because that's just more that has to be migrated to the new blog. Hang tight for a few more days and the new blog will be ready to go!
Yep, I'm slacking away on the blogging ... again! But, I'm back again to share what I have been doing for my Project 366 ... 12 days worth! And after that I have a bunch of sneak peeks!!
Are you ready?!
9/366 - my daughter twirls her hair when she drinks milk, here she is twirling her hair while drinking milk and wearing a princess dress. I used a lensbaby to shoot this and did a rose tone vintage finish.
10/366 - New Dora phone - vintage finish again ... I'm feeling rather vintage lately :)
11/366 - An emergency room doctor from the new St. Als in Eagle, isn't that a cool lobby? Look for this shot and a couple other cool ones in the next issue of Eagle Life Magazine.
12/366 - my first digital SLR ... check out that dust, it's been a while since I've used it
13/366 - a portrait from a newborn session, I love the parent's expressions
14/366 - Moi - a new self portrait for the website and the contributor's section of Eagle Life Magazine
15/366 - You can't really tell just how small he is in this photo ... a premature baby boy at St. Als NICU, he was born at 27 weeks gestation (2 lbs. 7 oz.) and sadly will not survive the week. This is part of the work that I do for the American Child Photographers Charity Guild.
16/366 - check out the bling! It was a learning experience getting this shot, my first time shooting on a light table, but I love the results!
17/366 - This photo should really put it into perspective how small baby Tyler (see day 15) is. He passed away and the parents were finally able to hold their baby boy. Here is is in his daddy's hands.
18/366 - check out this cute little newborn boy! He's the new addition for a couple who's wedding I photographed last year!
19/366 - winter wedding! good thing it was yesterday and not today in the fog and snow! I love this portrait!
20/366 - because it is the week for babies ... here's just one more newborn!
Whew!! How was that for a variety of different photos? I love what I do! I get such a great variety to really challenge myself artistically and technically. Infants, children, toddlers, kids, teens, families, weddings, editorial and commercial ... it keeps me on my toes!
I hope you enjoyed my catch up post ... hopefully the next one won't be quite so behind!
Whew, it is really hard to get back into the swing of blogging ... the time is flying by and it seems like there just isn't any time to blog! I've got to change that. Now, how about these 3! They were great fun, very relaxed in front of the camera, and we had a great time! They have been waiting so patiently for their sneak peek too! Wait no more .... Enjoy!!!
I have so much more I need to blog about, and sneak peeks to share!! My plan is to get caught up on my blogging by Tuesday. I have more than a week's worth of daily photos for the Project 366 to post too!!!
I really love to photograph tutu sessions, they are some of favorites and oh so much fun! This session was no exception! 3 little cousins (well, actually 4 but the little guy wasn't officially a part of the tutu session, but I photographed him anyways!) having fun in the tutus! I think they tried on every color I have, and I have quite the selection of tutus now! They all danced to music, spun in circles, and pretended to be ballerinas. It was so cute! Ok, enough of the chatting, here's the photos! Enjoy!
and, because this little guy is so cute, here he is again ... he was a part of my Project 366 post below.
I have made it a goal for this year to photograph something every day and post it on my blog to share. Well, as you can tell I'm a little late to start on the blog posting but I do have photos for every day so far. I plan to keep up with this but I can't make any promises that I will post them everyday, sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day, lol!
1/366 - a fun little pattern of headphone cords around my pink iPod Shuffle
2/366 - a fabulous bracelet that I photographed for Boise Art Glass downtown on the corner of 6th and Myrtle. They have some cool stuff in there!! Look for this photo in the next issue of Eagle Life Magazine.
3/366 - this little guy is such a cutie! don't you love his messy bed hed? I was doing a tutu session for his cousin and just had to sneak a few of him in!
4/366 - This is a bottle of Fidelitas wine. Fidelitas means faithful, loyal, true.
5/366 - a jewelry tree at Cherella boutique. If you haven't been there they are in on Milwaukee by Aaron Brother's and Monkey Doos. Cute clothes, shoes and jewelry!
6/366 - my grouchy girl
7/366 - a GORGEOUS ring from Diamond's Fine Jewelry on Eagle Rd. Look for this photo or something similar in the upcoming issue of Eagle Life Magazine
8/366 - since we had so much snow today I had to run outside for a shot ... barefoot ... needless to say i wasn't out there long. this is a wilted rose in front of my house. i did a cool vintage finish on this
I have one more to share along with a sad story for me. I was playing with the camera and my reluctant model when my favorite lens died :( For you photographers that read it is my 85mm f/1.2L. I tried taking off the lens and replacing it, taking the camera batteries out, put it on a different camera, switched the lens to manual focus ... nothing!! The manual focus ring doesn't even work anymore. Of course, I called Canon as soon as I realized what had happened and I am sending my lens in tomorrow for diagnostics and hopefully repairs. So, here is the last image taken with my beautiful 85mm f/1.2L lens, it's of my beautiful but reluctant son.
I know I said sneak peeks today, but I ran out of time. On of my New Year's Resolutions is to go to bed earlier. 1 am is too late (or is it early), so I'm shooting for 11 pm as my new bedtime. More tomorrow!
