I'm feeling like a bad mommy for not blogging this sooner but my little Gabe lost his first tooth last Sunday (7/27/08) while drinking a cup of milk. We had been telling him all day long that he just needed to give his tooth a little tug and it would come out but he did not want to do it. Not even Pappy could convince him otherwise. After dinner with Grandma & Pappy we came home and sure enough, that tooth popped right out on it's own and landed on his shirt. He was so excited. We put the tooth in water until bedtime and then into a plastic baggie and under the pillow. The magical tooth fairy came and left him a nice crispy one dollar bill. I was up before him the next morning (which doesn't usually happen) and he came out of his room and said, "Hey mom, you gotta see this!" I said, "What is it?" to which he replied, "The tooth fairy came and used magic to put a one dollar under my pillow and I saw her" (uh oh thoughts were swirling through my head because he did stir a little when the "tooth fairy" did the switcheroo). I asked him what she looked like and he said, "I don't know I was asleep but I saw her use magic" (whew)!

Now, I can't really say that I could have blogged this with photos much sooner because Gabe did not want to have a picture taken and would run off every time I tried to get out the camera. I finally got him in front of the camera, mostly willingly (only a minor bribe to play the wii with him), on Saturday (8/2/08).
So, here he is with a missing tooth and looking oh so proud!!!

and this one doesn't show off his missing tooth but it is totally "him" ... you know those things your kids do that just make them "them" ... this is one of Gabe's :)

I have so many sneak peeks that I am getting backed up on so look for more frequent blog posts for the rest of the week and next week too!!
Enjoy!

I have disabled comments for the time being. I am sick and tired of nasty spam filling up the comments of this blog. I have asked my developers to write a fix for this and as soon as it is done comments will be enabled once again. I am sorry to have to do this but if people weren't such big jerks and leave comments about porn and ED drugs I wouldn't have to do it. GRRR, go away spammers, I do not like you.
I will update you all when things are happy and friendly again. Feel free to email me if you have any comments.
Yep, I'll admit it! I've been totally slacking in the blog department. Sorry about that!! I have 3 sneak peeks to post too! But, I'm not going to do them tonight because Photoshop is hard at work batching images so I can't even prep them images for the sneak peeks to put them up yet. It will just have to wait until tomorrow. I promise a new sneak peek tomorrow, I swear I won't forget!
Man, I don't even have anything fun or witty ... I guess it's just bed time for me. Until tomorrow!
Um, well apparently I've been on vacation from blogging, lol! No, just busy as often happens in the warm summer months. There is so much fun stuff to do outside and lots of people want those beautiful summertime portrait sessions.

So, Rigby was good. The Professional Photographers of Idaho Quarterly meeting was fabulous! I had a great time hanging out with photographer friends, staying up until 4 in the morning (omg, what was I thinking??) talking and shooting up a storm, of photographs of course. Sadly, I don't have model release forms from the gorgeous models we got to shoot so I can't share them online, but trust me, they are beautiful!! I think it took me 2 days to recover the sleep I lost while on the trip, lol!
I am behind on sneak peeks and one mommy didn't even get a sneak peek before she saw her son's beautiful portraits! Sorry, I promise I will make a post just for him tomorrow ;)
I love lenses ... I have sort of an obsession with lenses actually. Anyway, I've been hearing rave reviews about the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L lens (for you non-photogs that is the focal length and maximum aperture of the lens and the L means it's super fancy and expensive, lol) so I decied to rent it from my favorite lens tester-outer store, Lens Pro to Go and my oh my have I been having fun with that thing! I think my kids are about done with having me point the lens in their faces though. Luckily, I'll get to use it this weekend on a new baby :) So, what does a 35mm 1.4L lens do? Let me show you ...
Here's Alison in one of her favorite dresses that she calls a princess dress. Check out how sharp the focus is with this lens!!!! You may also notice a little distortion from the wide angle lens but I rather like the effect in this image. (Sorry about the crusties under her nose ... this was an impromptu photo ... isn't she beautiful?)

And other great image with that fabulous lens ... I love how close I can get to my subject for that really great close up! And yes, I really did not do anything to her eyes in this shot ... they really are just that amazing :)

And this next image CRACKS me up! Oh gosh, I just giggle every time I look it. Not only can lenses with a very wide aperture and a wide angle help create amazing images they can also help create some pretty hilarious ones too. This is an example of how NOT to use this lens, lol! I seriously cracked up when I saw how this looked on the LCD of my camera. This is shot wide open with me standing above and her looking up. She's doing her best "this is my good side" pose. LOL ... her head looks like I just plopped it on to some random image and that it's floating ... and this is why I do all kinds of testing with the lenses I buy and rent :)

Ok, well I feel better that I am no longer neglecting my blog. Until tomorrow with a sneak peek of 1 year old Mr. S!!! Enjoy!

- That last one is too funny! I must say I'm a bit jealous! What a neat lens. A 35mm would do me wonders when I'm in cramped quarters indoors. Images are beautiful as always.

A grouchy 5 year old wearing a shirt that is 3 sizes too small, a goofy look on his face and a bright orange visor?

Why that would be Gabe, of course!
The shirt is one of his favorites and even though it's 2T he thinks he should still wear it because it's got spiderwebs on it. Notice the crazy hair, too? Yeah, I forgot to take him to his hair cut appointment this week (oops, sorry Amber!). So, even though he looks pretty dorky I still told him he looked totally awesome after he said, "what?" when I chuckled as he walked by. Kids are only little once, you just gotta let them have all their silly quirks and enjoy it!

- he is sooooo pretty!
i think he did a great job dressing himself.
my daughter does the same and i only hope that when we go out in public people know that i did not choose her clothes.

If you didn't know, I am a huge American Idol junkie. I have watched every episode since Season 1 ... even all of them through the super sucky Season 3. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of reality television, just the ones that require some talent. So, American Idol and Dancing with the Stars have been my two TV shows that are on my must watch list. Now that they are both over I will catch up on LOST and be ready for the season finale next week.

I have been a big David Cook fan since he did a stellar performance of Eleanor Rigby in the Top 12 Week. I found myself each week becoming more and more of a David Cook fan. The deal was sealed when he sang Billie Jean in the Top 10 week ... it was amazing.
LOL, now for a funny. Gabe is standing next to me and was rather upset that David Archuleta didn't win and told me to "Type that guy (David Cook) out and make David Archuleta win." Oh, what a funny kid. David Archuleta is still a winner and I'm sure the label deals are already flying in for him.
Oh, and I totally called it when I said to Steve in the tryout weeks that the dude in the white hat and coat would be on the finale ... sure enough, Renaldo Lapuz was out singing "I am your brother, your best friend forever ..." in the finale and accompanied by the USC marching band. You can even download the video for it on iTunes.
I will have a sneak peek of an adorable little guy later today ... stay tuned! Enjoy!
So I was trying to make breakfast and Alison, who is NOT a morning person, was having a mega meltdown because her banana broke and I put her Danimals in the wrong cup. I said to Gabe,

Me: Boy oh boy, Alison woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.
Gabe: Which side? The side Dad lays on?
LOL! That totally cracks me up! Anyone who knows my husband knows what I'm talking about. He may not really be grumpy but if he doesn't have anything to say he can certainly be perceived as being grouchy. In fact, when we were at Disneyland a couple of years ago he got a Grumpy hat.

Oh, and Alison likes to call Jell-O and jam Jellyfish! So during her meltdown she was also screaming that she wants Jellyfish! Oh, kids are funny!
